Reading Ladder – Level 1 Notes
Level 1 Reading Ladder titles are perfect for new readers who are beginning to read simple stories with help. You can find the complete collection of Reading Ladder books here and Reading Ladder Level 1 books here.
Book bands: Level 1 covers book band colours Pink, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green.
- As a way into the story, discuss what you think the book might be about before you begin. What can you find out from the title and the picture on the front cover?
- As you read on, give your child lots of encouragement and help them sound out unfamiliar words. Praise is a key part of making reading fun.
- After you have finished the story, go back to the words that your child found tricky at first and talk about them. This will help to reinforce the new vocabulary they have learned.
